What is the CMS Consultants Intranet?

As a member, you have access to a suite of tools that supports content editing, with fine granularity access control to pages, folders and files, workflow and versioning (future scheduled versions and automatic archiving), check-in/check-out version control, and document management (file sharing) through http file uploads.

The Intranet provides you with a Home Directory, including an editable page and a CMS Consultants blog. Online instructions are available on how to edit and editor training is available via web conferencing.

When you log in, you will be taken to a page like the one below. Navigate by pulling down the Module Menu or the Context Menu, or by clicking on the in-page links. Mousing over the boxes on the left offers you multiple options in the right-hand box.

The Intranet interface looks different from the main website pages. It opens in a new window. Because it is an interactive application, the Back button may not function as you expect. Use the in-page navigation links and drop-down menus.

  • To return to the CMS Consultants home page, use the CMS Consultants icon.
  • The calendar icon will open an interactive calendar.
  • The double-page icon opens a second intranet window.
  • The ladybug icon opens a bug reporting tool.
  • Contextual help is available on every page.

Once you are logged in, a cookie is set in your browser that allows you to navigate the members-only locked content on the main pages.

The Intranet is more than just a "CMS." It has a shopping cart for membership and summit registrations, a members management database, individual and issue-oriented blogs and forums (including the job board and directors minutes), events calendars, the resource library, webinar presentations, and the balloting system for elections, member surveys, and issue polls. It is written in PHP, a leading framework for custom CMS development

The Intranet software, and some integrated supporting tools, are open-source licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL).
