Management Committee Structure and Policies

  • In 2005, the initial Management Committee (MC) was appointed by the CM Professionals Board of Directors.
  • Future MC vacancies will be approved by the Board based on recommendations from the Executive Director (ED) and existing MC.
  • The MC is chaired by the ED.
  • Any member in good standing may apply for a vacant MC position.
  • MC Directors are expected to serve at least 1 year, barring unforeseen job changes etc. There are no term limits at this time for MC Directors.
  • The number and roles of the MC Directors may change over time, depending on the organizations' needs. Changes to the MC will be recommended by the ED and MC together and approved by the Board of Directors.
  • The MC Directors may form one or more subcommittees, projects or working groups relevant to their area.
  • While it is the intention of the MC to have a Director in place for all major activities, this does not preclude interested members from forming additional committees or interest groups. One of the jobs of the ED and MC will be to formulate a process for supporting member committee work.

As part of the Strategic Plan for CM Professionals in 2005 the Board of Directors determined that a management committee was required to

  • be able to support the organization's goals, activities, and growth
  • ensure the delivery of membership benefits
  • better leverage the diversity of expertise and skills we have within our membership.
The Management Committee (MC), chaired by an Executive Director, will function as the day-to-day management team running CM Professionals, and be responsible for monitoring and supporting initiatives (like our ambitious publishing goals: best practices, resource library, glossary, etc.).

To this end, the Board approached those individuals who had expressed interest in the Board of Directors but were not elected to determine if they would be interested in working on the Management Committee. Many of them said yes. The Management Committee has been hard at work in the background defining areas that they should address and determining their structure.
